Was one of those long days, you know the kind that don’t necessarily go WRONG but really never go right???  A few post day highlights include me stepping in dog doo and dropping the full garbage cans while being attacked by the offending hound, tripping over her run cord, her stealing the pepperoni I bought for the pizza (which was so not funny when you consider I braved the store to get it even though Asher was singing his loud and tearful praises to the lord thinking about what a great Mom I was) while I took Asher in the house, asking Cheyenne to hold my wallet (I don’t remember this, but the book fair was a blur) and then continuining to run around the school with said child looking for it before she tucks her hands into her jacket and find it.  Just a snippet.

Today was much better.  My mother in law came over to make cabbage rolls with me, and from there it progressed to including mouse (plumi mus is how the cookbook spells it ??), homemade buns, cinnamon rolls and a big mess :o ).  It was much more fun, and yummy.  Now I am off to enjoy several hours of social organization in cross cultural perspectives among horticultural societies of New Guinea and Turkey. Aren’t you mildly jealous???

Asher has been not feeling so great lately, he was up most of late night.  I was brought back to our first few months at home and I remembered vividly why I was done having children (like 5 is not enough *giggle*). Not in any I-can’t-take-it-anymore attitude though, I do babies well.  Not saying I don’t get flustered or peek out the window so check for any travelling circus’ once in awhile, but I am largely unmoved.  The reason he moves me is that there is something hurting him that I can’t fix.  All I can do is tylenol, pray and believe.  Thank God thats enough.  As a Mom I pride myself on being a great boo boo fixer, I can fashion a bandaid with suran wrap, toilet paper and a paperclip, snuggle endlessly staring at some bafoon who thinks he’s funny but really pulls off creepy, do the bath tylenol-bath-tylenol-bath dance, even rock with a baby hollering away in my ear singing a lullabye and pretending its working for hours without being moved.  But he makes me feel helpless and I hate that.  Is a mother supposed to be helpless ever???  When he shrieks and I know its a little bit attitude and little bit pain that I can’t fix so he’s mad, I want to scold myself for not having all the answers.  Finally, probably the first person ever to leave me feeling speechless.

Didya think you would ever hear me say that..Mom, Wendell????

Anyhoo, I will have some pics to share later, I am off to attemp some homework.  knock on wood.

before I fall asleep.  Asher has a fever last night over 102.  It took awhile to drop, thank God that it did.  Today he is snarky, but now he is napping so I am off to challenge the socio-political economies of Turkish Villages.   I can see the highliter marks across the page already (I am infamous for falling asleep while I am highliting already….oy)

I will try and get some of new pics up soon, but the batteries in my camera died a few days ago and now I am having a serious problem, they are rechargable and I lost the charger.  Sigh.

HA.  Then.

I am allowing myself a 10 minuted break, I just finished almost 1000 words on my English Essay, so I feel like I deserve it. Now that is not enough time to have a long hot bath, or read a great book, or even make myself some breakfast..but it is enough time to ramble on about a few things that have been going on around here.

Asher crawled all the way up the basement stairs himself, with Dad behind him of course.  He walks between things now.  It is only a matter of time.

Abby likes Sunday School.  She puts up a bit of fight, but she actually plays and interacts with the kids.  Miracle.  Thank you Jesus.

Mostly done the Xmas shopping only a few people left.  Yes it is you.

Report cards came home, I am convinced I have a doctor, a minister and a praise and worship leader on my hands.  Chey made principles honor role again, Zoe rocks in bible, and Freedom got a 4 (thats above grade level) in Music.

Its Exam time soon, so if I get quiet, praise me for my dedication, not email me and ask if I am dead.  If I am dead Wendell will let you know :o ).

My husand rocks.  No explanation, he just does.  Lucky me.

If you are looking for a gift for me… I will take a slightly tanned size 5 body with a nice complextion to match my long red, auburn I mean, hair.  Something that need minimal makeup and hair removal would be preffered.  Strech marks will result in immediate returns.

flying around the van.  Sounds reasonable eh???

Through Mom Central I was introduced to this amazing product, and I KNOW if is a must have for any Mom or Dad with booster seats in their car/van/thing with wheels and seatbelts.  Its called SeatSnug and it is a child stability device.  If you have watched the news ever you will understand that children in booster seats are still at risk of injury or death because seat belts are not perfect, they often become loose or are not tightened properly in the first place. Really, it is also common sense that kids will be kids and if there is slack the kids will likely jump around, bounce around and fall over even when the car is still in motion.

Introduce the first-one-of-a-kind-brand-new-amazing product…SeatSnug.  It allows for the lap belt to be tightened around the childs hips and prevents this slack from forming.  It significantly decreases the liklihood of injury while your eyes are rightly glued to road and in the case of accident…while still being comfortable or your child. The SeatSnug is easy to clip into your existing seatbelt (trust me, I am seat belt impaired..so if I can use it you can) and will not affect the normal operation of the shoulder strap.  It uses the CG Lock technology that has been proven to be efective in race track useage.  Now, unless you drive like a crazy person (in which case you will FOR SURE need these) this is great news.  It received the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval. More, it can be turned off and on if you need to change the rider in that belt.

Don’t just take my word for it..check out the video at the SeatSnug site and be your own judge.  I was sold, it shows how the seat snug made a difference only at parking lot speeds (if you are on the other spectrum and drive like a Gramma, this is also great news for you).

All joking aside, the safety of your child is one thing you cannot be lazy about or take for granted.  Make sure to check out the site, watch the video, read the testimonials, read over the information and get yours.

I am feeling so Christmassy this year, I have my shopping done, I have a box of decorations waiting to be hung with care I want to start cookies and carmel corn and christmas crafts..there is only one thing stopping me right now.

Its only November 10th.  Oy.

I took Saturday night of and watched the Journey to the Center of the Eearth on blueray.  I have to say I loved the movie more than the book and you NEVER hear me say that!!  I loved the movie, I am adding it to my collection..soon. The only other movie that ever stood up to the book was Lord of the Rings.  They were almost as god as the books.  If only they could have done that with Harry Potter, anyone who has read the books and then watched the movies knows what I mean.

but I have to.  I feel compelled to point out that had I been an American I would have been part of a major minority in mourning the loss of McCain to Obama.  I would have been a republican.

One of my favorite statements made by McCain was this : My advisors thought it would be beneficial to pull the troops out and bring them home, that the war was hurting my popularity.  I told them I would rather lose an election than lose a war.  When I am president our troops will return home, in both honor and glory and not in defeat."  Or "We never hide from history, we make it."  It’s an amazing historical moment that there is at long last a black president, the impact has not been lost on me.  I just wish that things had gone a little more….red. :o )
